4th Mountain Division (Wehrmacht) : ウィキペディア英語版
4th Mountain Division (Wehrmacht)

The 4th Mountain Division ''Enzian'' ((ドイツ語:4. Gebirgs Division)) ("Gentian" – a type of flower) was established in October 1940. It took part in the 1941 Balkans Campaign and then joined Army Group South in Operation Barbarossa after it was already underway. In 1942 it participated in the failed attempt to seize the Caucasus under Army Group A. As German fortunes in the east waned the division was pushed back into the Kuban bridgehead, the Crimea, the western Ukraine, Hungary, and Slovakia, finally surrendering to the Soviets near Czech Olomouc when the war ended in May 1945.
